How do you create a manual save?
At a bell, use the Save entry and create a new manual record. The menu labels matter more than copying a key blindly, particularly if you changed your bindings. After confirming, check that a new numbered entry appears and that its location and timestamp correspond to the progress you intended to preserve.
- Interact with a bell; the documented default PC interaction key is E.
- Choose Save, then New Game Data.
- Confirm and inspect the new manual entry.
Why can you not overwrite an AUTO row?
Autosaves and manual records are different rows with different rules. The documented menu rejects attempts to overwrite an autosave. Return to New Game Data instead of repeatedly confirming the same locked row. Keep a useful manual checkpoint before an important decision, and identify it by its date and location before loading or deleting anything.
Where is the first manual-save opportunity?
Look for The Beginning bell in Weeping Creek Valley during Chapter 1. If you are still in the earlier sequence, do not assume the absence of that bell means a control is broken. When you reach it, inspect the menu once and create a clearly identifiable record before continuing with exploration.
