Why does guarding leave you open?
Guarding is a resource decision. Watch your own meter while learning an enemy’s rhythm, then leave enough room to react instead of holding defense through an entire sequence. A useful practice goal is to finish a short exchange with control of your position; chasing extra damage is less useful if the next attack catches you exhausted.
When should you switch weapons?
Press Left on the D-Pad in the documented PlayStation layout to switch and refill Sha-Chi. Try each weapon separately first. Treat this as a practice routine rather than a guaranteed combo: enemy spacing and the length of an opening still determine whether continuing to attack is sensible.
- Learn one short attack sequence with each equipped weapon.
- Watch the Sha-Chi meter during a guarded exchange.
- Switch when there is room to resume control, then reassess the enemy.
How does Power Surge differ from weapon swapping?
Power Surge becomes available when Sha-Chi Essence is fully charged; swapping refills Sha-Chi. Keep those decisions separate when learning the interface. Check your selected layout before following button instructions: press L2 for Power Surge in the documented PlayStation mapping, and a custom control preset may put the same action on another button.
